Doctor of Audiology Serving Columbus and Platte County Since 1992

New Patient Information

What to Expect as a New Patient in Columbus

Here's the new patient information you'll want before your first visit to AUDIO-LOGIC, PC. You'll see Dr. Nora Fuchs, the Doctor of Audiology who founded the practice in Columbus in 1992, and she's the one who tests your hearing, explains the results, and answers your questions. The complete hearing evaluation takes about 45 minutes. Family members are welcome to come along, and nobody will push you toward a purchase before you understand your hearing.

Download Your New Patient Forms Before You Visit

Save time at check-in by printing and filling out these two forms at home. If you'd rather not, no problem. We'll have copies ready at our Fox Hollow Professional Center office, so just arrive a few minutes early.

Bring any earlier hearing test results, audiograms, or hearing aids you already own. Dr. Fuchs can compare them with today's results and see whether your hearing has held steady or changed.

What Happens at Your First Hearing Appointment

Most first visits follow the same four steps. Knowing what's coming makes the appointment feel less like a test and more like a conversation about how you hear.

1

Check In

Check in at Suite 300 with your ID, insurance card, and new patient forms, filled out at home or in our lobby.

2

Hearing History Review

Dr. Fuchs asks about your health, medications, noise exposure, family history, and the places where hearing is hardest.

3

Comprehensive Evaluation

An ear canal check, pure-tone and speech testing, and a middle-ear check. The complete evaluation takes about 45 minutes.

4

Results & Recommendations

Dr. Fuchs walks you through your audiogram in plain language and explains your options before you decide anything.

“As a new customer the check-in process including the paper work was extremely easy and we were made to feel welcome and comfortable. The Doctor was superb! She allowed my husband to be present. She asked a few initial questions, explained the testing process and findings. She answered all of our questions. If you have hearing issues I highly recommend Audio-Logic, PC”

New Patient FAQs

Answers to the questions new patients ask before their first visit to AUDIO-LOGIC, PC: how long it takes, whether you need a referral, what to bring, and how insurance billing works.

The complete evaluation takes about 45 minutes. That includes a conversation about your hearing history at the start, the testing itself, and time at the end for Dr. Fuchs to go over your results with you. When you call to schedule, our office will tell you how much time to set aside.

If the test shows hearing loss and you'd like to talk about hearing aids, Dr. Fuchs can start that conversation the same day. You don't have to decide anything at your first visit. Many patients go home, talk it over with family, and come back when they're ready. Call (402) 564-9198 to book your appointment.

No. You can call AUDIO-LOGIC, PC directly at (402) 564-9198 or send a request through our appointment request form, and we'll find a time that works for you. Some insurance plans do require a referral from your primary care provider before they'll pay for a hearing evaluation, so a quick call to your plan is worth it if you want to be sure.

If your doctor or an ear specialist has already referred you, bring the referral and any recent records with you. Our office is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and closes from noon to 1:00 PM for lunch. We don't see patients on Thursdays.

Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, and a list of the medications you take. If you've had a hearing test somewhere else, bring a copy of the results. If you already wear hearing aids, wear them to the appointment so Dr. Fuchs can check how they're working. Columbus police officers and firefighters using our Public Servant Hearing Plan should bring their work ID.

We also encourage you to bring a spouse, adult child, or close friend. Family is always welcome at AUDIO-LOGIC, PC. A familiar voice helps during parts of the visit, and a second person often remembers details from the conversation that you might miss.

If AUDIO-LOGIC, PC is a preferred provider for your plan, we bill your insurance directly. Coverage for hearing tests and hearing aids varies a lot from one plan to the next, so the easiest way to find out is to call (402) 564-9198 with your insurance card in hand before your appointment.

For costs your plan doesn't cover, you can use Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA) funds, since hearing tests and hearing aids usually count as qualified medical expenses. Our hearing aid financing page explains more about Medicare, Medicaid, and other ways to pay.

Dr. Fuchs goes over your audiogram with you before you leave. She'll explain the type and degree of any hearing loss she found, which sounds you're missing, and what that means for conversations at home, at work, or at church. Educated patients are the best patients, so you'll have time to ask questions.

If hearing aids would help, she'll recommend Widex or Signia hearing aids in a style that fits your hearing and the way you live. If the results point to a medical issue, she'll refer you to a physician. If your hearing is normal, today's results become the baseline for future tests, and a yearly hearing test keeps an eye on any change.
